Welcome to CanLiv, The Hepatobiliary Cancers Foundation:

CanLiv provides the most accurate and comprehensive source of information for individuals affected by cancers of the bile ducts, gallbladder and liver (hepatobiliary cancers).  Hepatobiliary cancers are uncommon  or "orphan" tumors that have not attracted much research interest or public attention.  As a result, few advances in treatment of these devestating cancers have been made. CanLiv was created by a group of physicians, scientists, and dedicated individuals who are committed to advancing knowledge, education, research and treatment of hepatobiliary cancers.  CanLiv is a tax-exempt, not for profit charitable foundation headquartered in New York.

The mission of CanLiv is to improve the lives of individuals and families affected by primary cancers of the bile ducts, gallbladder, and liver. The vision is to provide the very best information and education for patients, families, and health care providers. CanLiv's approach is to create a "call to action" to focus attention on these devastating but neglected cancers.  The goal: better treatment options for patients as a result of focused clinical and translational research.

This website is designed to support and educate patients, families and caregivers, by providing background and treatment information on these cancers. This site is intended to help you, but not replace discussions or information provided to you by your medical professionals.  Suggested questions to ask your physicians are provided.  The status of knowledge, science and treatment changes rapidly, so it is important that this website be used to supplement information provided to you by your own treatment team.
