How to find treatment

Cancers of the bile ducts, gallbladder and liver are uncommon tumors and therefore community medical centers may not be familiar with the best way to evaluate and treat individuals diagnosed with one of these cancers. It is advisable to seek care from an institution that specializes in treating hepatobiliary cancers. Many universities and cancer centers worldwide have assembled a team of specialists that review each patient's case, and make treatment recommendations. These specialty teams commonly include medical, surgical and radiation oncologists, pathologists, diagnostic and interventional radiologists, hepatologists (liver disease specialists), social workers, financial counselors, and nurses.
